I got a Wii for Christmas. I am in huge amounts of pain! It seriously feels like the morning after the first practice of the Volleyball season.  My muscles are VERY angry at me right now. It was worth it though, Wii Sports is REALLY cool.  It’s really the only game that actually uses the sensor remotes as objects rather than as controllers. Tony Hawk just pays attention to which way you’re slanting it, you still have to hit a ton of buttons.  Fishing is pretty cool, but could get old quickly.

I FINALLY slept at a normal hour! I think all of the hours playing the Wii exhausted me enough. I actually went to bed before midnight! I woke up at 11:30 still, but it’s progress!

I have more to say but I’m still a bit groggy so fingers aren’t going at the speed I’d like them to just yet.  I’ll be back later today or tomorrow with more.

Hope you all enjoyed your holidays!!

Until next time…

12.24.2006 | Merry Christmas Eve!

Hey all,

Just wanted to pop in to wish everyone a Merry Christmas Eve and Merry Christmas tomorrow! I’ve spent the last few days either baking, shopping, or sleeping. Lots and lots of sleeping! Hope you’re all enjoying your time off!

I’ll probably be back during tomorrow’s downtime. We usually finish unwrapping etc. by around 10:30. Although, I haven’t woken up before 11 all week, so hopefully I’ll be able to get up at a normal time tomorrow. Those all-nighters really screwed up my internal clock!

Until next time…

I thought it would be cool to run through all of my pictures from this year and pick one from each month. I did have a few tough months where I didn’t take as many pictures as I would have liked to, but I managed to find at least one decent on per month. They’re all over at Flickr. I also created a group for anyone who wants to do the same.

January: Jenn & Nat in NYC January: Jenn & Nat in NYC:

A meeting that was over 4 years in the making, Natalie and I finally met up! We went all over NYC and took a few trips to the beach. I didn’t blog about it all because we had enough adventures to make up their own book, but here’s a taste.

February: Winter in Ithaca:

Just one of the hundreds of shots I have of this winter. I loved the snow before I went to Cornell, I survived an Ithaca winter, and I think I can safely say I love the snow even more now!

March: Bill Nye the Science Guy March: Bill Nye the Science Guy:

How cool is he?! My friends had a extra ticket so I got to see him! Bill Nye is a Cornell alum and this was his last year as a visiting professor :(

April: Roommate Love April: Roommate Love:

This is my roommate from last year. She’s a fine arts major, and as such she needed to do an exercise that would help her understand anatomical proportions or something like that. Lovely roommate that I am, I had to trace her. This isn’t even the first of the strange projects she had to do last year. It kept things interesting, let me tell you!

May: Spring at Cornell May: Spring at Cornell:

I swear the grounds maintenance department must have gone through millions of tulips this year! Every time you turned around they were planting new ones! These were in a bed between two of the libraries. There were red, orange, pink, and all sorts of other colors all over campus.

June: RYLA June: RYLA!:

My new family. I had such an amazing time my first year as a counselor. My Post-RYLA Post

July: Flowers July: My Favorite Garden:

This and MANY of the other photos I took this summer were of flowers in this older gentleman’s garden in Bay Head. He has no fences around it so you can just wander in and take enjoy and photos if you want. It’s so colorful and beautiful. I can’t wait until they bloom again to go take some more!

August: Back to School August: Hiking the Gorge

After my mom and I moved all of my stuff into my new dorm we decided to take a walk through Cascadilla Gorge. This is one of about 5 pics from that day to survive the great hard drive transfer of 2006, thanks to Flickr.

September: President's Inauguration September: President’s Inauguration:

Unfortunately, this is one of 4 shots from the Inauguration to survive the great harddrive transfer of ‘06 and for that I am endlessly thankful to Flickr! This definitely had to be one of the most impressive things I’ve witnessed in my life so far.

October: The Big 2-0 October: The Big 2-0:

Yep…bye bye childhood! Turning 20 wasn’t easy, but I’m used to it now and I can’t wait until 21!

November: Chicago November: Chicago:

Taken from my hotel room in Chicago during the 2006 National CEO (Collegiate Entrepreneur Organization) Conference. I ended up getting really sick the second day there and didn’t get to experience much, but I did get to see the city during my few hours of health!

December: Cornellia December: Who Needs A Tree? Not Cornell!

Yep, this is Cornellia, the Dairy Bar’s cow. She is lit with christmas lights every year for the holidays. We’re cool like that in Ithaca…. :-\

12.19.2006 | Done Done and Done

ahhhhhhh the sweet, sweet freedom of finally being done for the semester. It wasn’t easy, but I’m so glad it’s behind me!

Now I’m home with a ton of free time on my hands and an equally sized list of things I’d like to do before I head back to school for the semester. I have a bunch of books I’d like to read, I’d like to learn to do some things with Ajax, I have a few site projects I’d like to finish up, or at least dedicate a good amount of time to, then of course there’s Christmas and spending time with some friends whom I haven’t seen in years. Just to name a few.

I went Christmas shopping today. I’m normally REALLY good about Christmas shopping because I know the people I buy gifts for really well. This year, I don’t know if it’s the fact that I’ve spent so much time at school or what, but I have NO IDEA what to buy for my mother or my grandma! They’re IMPOSSIBLE! Last year I could rely on the fact that my mom will go ga-ga over anything from The Cornell Store, but to my dismay, when I went in the other day to find something for her, I realized - SHE HAS EVERYTHING IN THE STORE! I mean, I get the whole “proud parent” thing, but when I can’t even find a single thing for her, you know it’s gone too far. So, no Cornell stuff for my mom this year. I did, luckily, find one thing for my grandma.
I digress….
So I went to the Jackson Outlets, basically a giant strip mall of outlet stores. I found a little trinket in the first store I went to, but after that, NOT A THING! It’s also especially bad because I haven’t been shopping in a good 6 months so I kept finding all sorts of things I liked for myself! I found a really nice peacoat in J Crew as I was shopping for my mom. It was 50% off - how could I resist?! $160 jacket for $80, not a bad deal at all! But yeah, I’m officially a bad Christmas shopper.

Other than that…I’ve been doing a LOT of sleeping. I mean a LOT. I went about 90+ hours on 8ish hours of sleep last week and I nearly pulled another all-nighter (I went to bed @ 6AM) yesterday, so it’s well overdue.

I know there was so much I wanted to blog about over the last few weeks of school but I didn’t have time. I wish I had written it all down! Well, if I remember, I’ll be back. Until then, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and that’s about all because hopefully I’ll be back here before Christmas if not the day after!

Until next time…

12.15.2006 | Home Sweet Home?

Well I’m home for winter break. Not that I’ve had the chance to relax or anything. I promise I’ll get a good blog up here in the next few days, but right now I need to finish up 2 more papers and final grades for the classes I TA.

Hope everyone else is enjoying their winter breaks so far or surviving their finals!

Until next time…
